The wife of former police officer and K.T.2 series actor Leon Lučić testified at the County Court (Županijski sud) in Velikoj Gorici in proceedings where Lučić is charged with attempted murder of his former friend Denis M., and Din Vekić with aiding escape after the shooting.

The witness stated she met Denis M. six years ago through her husband and saw him only twice a year, mostly at a local café. One encounter was on Christmas Eve in a larger group. She recalled a disturbing two-and-a-half-month period before the shooting. According to her knowledge, the victim had previously worked as a bouncer in clubs and is now involved in brokering football player sales. She concluded that Denis is a cocaine addict and uses unauthorised supplements for exercising, which led her to ask Leon not to bring him to the apartment. She said their relationship had a crisis three years prior.

In August 2025, Leon told the witness that Denis was selling a car and had found a buyer, after which Denis claimed Leon had taken a commission of €1,000 to €2,000. Denis then began calling Leon frequently and accusing him, threatening him with the words: 'This can only be solved with blood, as they do it in Derventa.' The witness told Leon to block him on his phone. After Leon blocked him in September, rumours began circulating that Leon was slandering Denis and threatening him.

Denis began driving past the witness's building in his car, and one Saturday he rang the intercom for 15 minutes. The witness saw him on the camera and from the balcony, called Leon and said Denis was there and was evidently crazy. Leon told her to decide for herself whether to call the police. She stated she was afraid for them as a family and considered that if she reported him, she would become Denis's target. Denis does not hold Croatian citizenship, and she decided to ignore his harassment.

The fateful day was 22 October. Leon told the witness that Denis was sending threatening messages through other people, referring to the whole family. That morning, Leon called the witness and said he had shot Denis. The witness was shocked and told him to surrender. She also received a call from a police officer asking her to tell Leon to open the door because they would break it down. Leon called the witness from her mother's phone, and then from her father's number, saying he was going to surrender at Heinzelova.

Lučić and Vekić had been spending time together constantly, and Vekić drove Lučić to the witness's parents. The witness's father and Vekić jointly persuaded Lučić to surrender to the police. Leon stopped going to the local café so he would not encounter him. Denis sent messages through acquaintances, some of which were threatening, and he allegedly wanted money from Leon.

The witness stated that Leon suffers from PTSD and is under treatment. During the two-and-a-half months of harassment, he had insomnia, did not let the child go anywhere alone, and showed symptoms of depression. Denis, she said, had become paranoid and completely irresponsible, overindulged in alcohol, argued with his wife and sang Ustaše songs. Leon took Denis away. Denis did not directly threaten the witness, but allegedly threatened through others to harm the entire family. On the day of the shooting, Denis was in another café that morning and shouted that he would kill Leon, which the witness was told by a waiter, neighbours and acquaintances.
