Marink Reedijk has been appointed as the new manager of Hibernian, the Scottish Premiership club confirmed. The 35-year-old Dutch specialist replaces David Gray, who was dismissed eight days ago after a difficult start to the season.

Reedijk spent the last two seasons at Beveren, securing promotion to the top flight last season with an unbeaten campaign. The club left in the summer, having previously worked in academy roles at Ajax and West Bromwich Albion, as well as in senior sides at KSV Roeselare, Vitesse and RSCA Futures.

Hibs state that Reedijk arrives with a reputation for attacking football and building a strong team culture. "I am honoured by the appointment. I sense ambition and see clarity in what the club is trying to achieve. That was a big part of what drew me here," Reedijk said. "I want us to be a determined side. A side that gives everything, plays with purpose and gives our fans something to truly stand behind." He will be assisted at Easter Road by Rogier Molhoek.

The club described his arrival as an "exciting moment". Sporting director Malky Mackay claims Reedijk's hiring is not a "change of direction" in their football strategy, but rather a "continuation of its development". "We believe Marink is an excellent choice to lead the team forward. We began this process with a clear idea of the type of side we want to continue building and the qualities we want from our next manager. Marink's philosophy, his work with players and his leadership style are strongly aligned with that," Mackay said. "His teams are proactive, high-energy and dynamic. What also stands out is his ability to develop individuals and create a strong collective environment."

The Edinburgh club are currently 10th in the Premiership with two wins from their first seven matches, having also suffered a painful exit from the Conference League. Under Gray, they finished third in 2024/25 and fifth last season, and Gray also took them to the cold semi-finals of the League Cup, where they will face city rivals Hearts.
