Sydney Towle, a popular TikTok creator and influencer, has died at the age of 26. Her family confirmed the news on Thursday, stating that Towle passed away from complications related to cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer in the bile ducts that had spread to other parts of the body.
Towle had been publicly and courageously battling the illness for almost three years. During that period, she documented her daily life, including the difficult phases of chemotherapy and the daily challenges of living with cancer. Her aim was to raise awareness of rare cancers and to promote the self-advocacy of patients within the healthcare system.
She had a significant influence on social media, amassing over a million followers on TikTok and over 200,000 on Instagram. At the time of her death, she was living in New York, and shortly before passing, she had fulfilled one of her dreams by modelling at Miami Swim Week, which was one of her last public appearances.
