Ivan Brečević has once again assumed the role of first team coach at NK Buja, marking the closure of a cycle in the club's management. This development follows the departure of the previous manager, Franko Čupić, creating a need for an immediate change at the head of the technical staff. Brečević assumed the role on 20 August, taking on the responsibility for the current squad during a critical period of the season.

Although Brečević is a seasoned professional, his connection to the local club runs deep. Before taking the helm, he was involved in local football, and now he is once again taking responsibility for the senior team. His professional biography is marked by experience gained at the highest level, enabling him to lead the squad with authority through the challenges of competition. Brečević holds a UEFA A licence, a key qualification criterion for managing a team at this demanding level of competition.

He has acquired his expertise and experience through a long playing career. As an active player, he featured for Slovak clubs, including Slovan, and has experience playing in Greece, where he played for AEK Athens. Additionally, he had the opportunity to represent his country, playing for a club in Šibenik, and spent part of his career in China. This rich playing history, enriched by experiences from different environments, provides a solid foundation for his coaching vision.

As a player, Brečević played as a striker, and his height of 191 centimetres allowed him to be a threat in aerial duels. Although he is now on the sidelines, his understanding of the game and positioning remain key elements he brings to the coaching ranks. His ability to read the game, acquired through years of professional involvement, will be crucial in shaping the play of the Buja squad in the coming periods.
