UEFA has sent a letter to FIFA requesting answers regarding the presidential mandate of Gianni Infantino. The letter contains 42 questions covering 12 different topics, with a deadline for a response set for 2 November.
Among the topics mentioned by UEFA are the "FIFA Forward Enterprise" (FFE) project and the FIFA Peace Prize. The FFE project involved the establishment of a company to manage the commercial interests of FIFA competitions, including the World Cup, and the sale of a minority stake to private investors. The project has since been abandoned, but pressure on Infantino continued even after its withdrawal.
UEFA has led calls for Infantino's resignation since he proposed the FFE project, which sparked strong opposition within European football. Infantino, who is 56 years old, apologised to the FIFA Council last week and asked those present to submit all questions regarding his management of the organisation in writing, so that he could respond to them at the next meeting on 16 December.
UEFA Secretary General Theodore Theodoridis sent the letter to his counterpart at FIFA, Mattias Grafström. In it, he stated: "These questions need to be answered immediately" and added: "They cannot be postponed until the next FIFA Council meeting – nor can future governance reforms replace the review of decisions already made and the establishment of accountability for them."
Infantino will stand for a new term in March 2027, and potential candidates must submit their nominations by 18 November at the latest.
