US federal authorities arrested brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate in Miami on Saturday following new charges brought by British prosecutors and a request for their extradition by the UK, according to reports from the Guardian and BBC.
The UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that Andrew Tate (39) is charged with seven new rapes, three counts of organising or facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation, three assaults occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 additional charges related to prohibited images of children and extreme pornography.
His brother Tristan is charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of organising or facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation. According to the prosecution, the offences took place between July 2010 and August 2017.
"These charging decisions followed the receipt of a new bundle of evidence from Bedfordshire Police, bringing the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven," said Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division.
The arrest was confirmed to the BBC by US federal marshals, while a spokesperson for the US Department of Justice stated it was carried out as part of extradition proceedings. The CPS confirmed it has requested the extradition of the brothers, who hold dual British-American citizenship.
The Tate brothers' lawyer, Joseph McBride, stated after the arrest that "the world knows Andrew and Tristan are innocent", describing the new charges as a political vendetta. He further claimed they were brought to thwart a defamation lawsuit the brothers had filed in the US.
The Tate brothers, known for their millions of social media followers, have previously faced charges in the UK: in May 2025, prosecutors confirmed a list of 21 charges, including rape, assault, and human trafficking. In June, the brothers lost a court battle seeking the disclosure of the prosecutors' identities.
Proceedings are also ongoing against them in Romania since December 2022, where they are accused of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal organisation. The brothers have so far denied all allegations.
