From 18 to 20 September, a workshop on diving rescue was held on the island of Lošinj, organised by an assembly of representatives from the Croatian Mountain Rescue (HGSS) and the Special Operations Command of the Croatian Army.
The workshop was held as a continuation of the cooperation between the HGSS and the special operations command. The Lošinsk workshop is a continuation of the earlier open and closed circuit breathing workshop held on the island of Pag, thereby completing a cycle of joint activities in this area of rescue.
Through joint activities and practical training, knowledge and experience were further exchanged, and joint capabilities in diving rescue were developed and harmonised. During the workshop, exercises in underwater terrain search were conducted using underwater communication, which allowed for the verification of procedures in conditions requiring a high level of coordination among diving teams.
The focus of the workshop was on search procedures, coordination of diving teams, and the safety and efficiency of the operation. It is these elements that are key to successful action in situations where it is necessary to quickly and systematically search underwater terrain.
From the HGSS, it was stated that by such continuous joint work, they strengthen inter-departmental cooperation and improve readiness for effective action in diving rescue and response to accidents. In this way, they contribute directly to the further strengthening of the domestic security system.
