The city day of Imotski and the Feast of Our Lady of Angels were marked on Sunday, 2 August 2026, with a ceremonial religious, protocol, and cultural entertainment programme. The central part of the celebration began with the traditional wake-up call by the Croatian band of the Imotski Town Orchestra, after which the City Council held a solemn session. Mass was celebrated in the church of St. Francis, and the central part of the programme was marked by a procession with the image of Our Lady of Angels from the church of St. Francis to the Topana fortress.
The mass at the Topana fortress was presided over by Bishop of Banja Luka, Mons. Željko Majić. The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, and the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure. Following the mass, the Prime Minister extended congratulations to the citizens on the occasion of the City Day and the Feast of Our Lady of Angels.
Plenković described the atmosphere at Topana as beautiful, highlighting the presence of a large crowd. He praised the sermon by the Bishop of Banja Luka, and extended congratulations to the Mayor of Imotski and his team. He expressed the hope that, with the support of the Government, as many projects as possible would be realised for Imotski and all other municipalities in the Imotski region.
The Prime Minister paid particular attention to transport infrastructure, noting the Zagvozd–Imotski highway as a key project. He mentioned the head of Croatian Roads, a person responsible for transport issues, thereby confirming the focus on accelerating the realisation of this important link.
