The 55th Festival of the Kajkavian Song was held in the Sokolani in Zlatar, bringing the Days of the Kajkavian Word to a close. This marked the conclusion of the traditional event, the 57th Days of the Kajkavian Word.
All three children's events — the visual arts exhibition, the children's choir, and the festival — were the core of the event. The event, as in previous years, attracted significant public interest, not only from Zlatar.
The demanding task was successfully carried out by the Institute for Public Education Dr. Juraj Žerjavić, led by its director, Gordana Valjak. At the conclusion of the 55th Festival of the Kajkavian Song, the deputy county prefect, Jasna Petek, presented her with a certificate of appreciation from the Krapina-Zagor County in honour of the festival's anniversary.
The festival was attended by members of the Croatian Parliament, the mayor of Zlatar, and the head of the municipality of Konjščina. Eighteen songs were performed by students from primary schools in the Kajkavian-speaking area, with students adding musical settings to the verses of their peers from the previous year's Children's Choir, accompanied by the HRT String Orchestra under the direction of Siniša Leopold.
Students from the primary schools of Konjščina, Mač, Veliko Trgovišće, Sveti Križ Začretje, and Zlatar participated from the Krapina-Zagor County. The variable soprano Hana Ilčić, whose family roots are linked to the wider Zlatar region, appeared as the festival guest. Hana Ilčić, as a scholarship holder at the Croatian National Theatre, is currently completing her degree in solo singing in the class of Professor Helena Lucić Šego at the Zagreb Academy of Music.
