The American singer Ariana Grande has announced that she will withdraw from public appearances following the conclusion of her current world tour. Her representative confirmed the decision to People, highlighting that the singer will step back at the end of the tour to take a break from all public-facing duties.
The tour, titled Eternal Sunshine, will conclude next month. The final concert of the tour will take place on 1 September in London. The singer’s representative stated that Ariana Grande looks forward to ending the tour “on a high note, healthy and happy”.
The withdrawal also covers future engagements. Grande will no longer appear in the revived version of the musical Sunday in the Dark with George in London. This is a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s work, which was due to be staged in 2027. The production was set to feature alongside her co-star from the film Wicked, British actor Jonathan Bailey.
The company responsible for the production has confirmed her withdrawal. The company expressed “complete understanding and support” for her decision. The reason for the withdrawal, it is stated, is the “endless, constant public scrutiny” to which the singer has been subjected.
This announcement comes two days after the release of her latest album, Petal. The album has sparked speculation about her physical appearance and health, with speculation further intensified by her appearance in promotional material for the release.
