The first international adaptation of the BBC format 'Murder in Paradise' will be filmed in Croatia, with production for Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) being prepared by CGM Films. The well-known television format will thus move to the Croatian coast, with Brač serving as the backdrop.
Initial filming is scheduled for spring 2027, and shooting will take place in Supetar and the surrounding area. The story will be set in a fictional island community, so instead of an exotic Caribbean setting, viewers will be greeted by a Dalmatian atmosphere, local customs and the daily life of a place where almost everyone knows each other.
At the centre of the series are Petar, a detective arrived from the continent, and Marina, a policewoman who knows the people, habits and unwritten rules of the island community well. The direction is signed by Jelena Gavrilović, while the script is jointly developed by Sonja Tarokić and Valentina Batalić. The project editor for HRT is Maja Fišter, and production is led by Bruno Mustić and Ivan Lovreček.
The British original was created by Robert Thorogood, and the format rights are linked to the company Red Planet Pictures. Distribution on the international market is led by BBC Studios, and the Croatian production also counts on the possibility of placement outside the domestic market.
CGM Films has previously collaborated with HRT on the youth series 'Sram', the Croatian adaptation of the Norwegian format 'SKAM'.
