As part of the World Congress of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ Croatia 2026), which is taking place in Croatia for the first time, Cromaris hosted a group of international journalists and editors. Thirty journalists from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Kenya, Australia, Slovenia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina visited Zadar and Cromaris as part of the PostTour Zagreb programme.

The visit to Cromaris was organised by the Croatian Society of Agricultural Journalists with the support of the Zadar County. This is part of the IFAH Croatia 2026 programme, which showcases Croatian examples of successful, innovative, and sustainable food production. The aim of the visit was to present the most successful Croatian examples of food production, sustainable development, and export competitiveness.

During the tour of the processing plant in Gaženica, the international guests were introduced to Cromaris's 'sea to table' production model, including cultivation, processing, logistics, and distribution. The vertically integrated business model covers all stages of production, from the own hatchery and fish feed development to the distribution of products to European markets. This model ensures complete traceability and high product quality.

Cromaris is a member of the Adris Group and is a leading producer of Mediterranean fish, being the sixth company in the world by farmed sea bass and sea bream production. In 2025, the company generated €118 million in sales revenue and sold 14,880 tonnes of fish. Almost 90 per cent of production is exported to foreign markets. The company manages seven farms along the Croatian coast, including six in the Zadar area, and one of the most advanced Mediterranean fish hatcheries in Europe located in Nin. Over 600 employees daily contribute to the development of the business, which is based on more than four decades of experience in Mediterranean fish farming.

The international guests were presented with a range of products including sea bream, sea bass, ham, and dentex, as well as the premium line Grand Selection, intended for high-end gastronomy. The topics of sustainability and the responsible use of marine resources generated particular interest. In 2019, Cromasis became the first company in the industry whose farms and commercial species were certified according to the ASC standard.

A special segment of production is organic fish, with Cromasis currently being the largest producer of organic white Mediterranean fish in the world. The BIO range includes sea bass and sea bream, with organic farming based on strictly controlled conditions, certified organic feed from sustainable sources, and high standards of fish welfare.

Through reports and articles produced during the congress, the story of Croatian mariculture, the quality of products from the Adriatic, and the role of aquaculture in sustainable food production will be presented to a global audience. A part of the congress programme is also AgroRocks, an international conference dedicated to new technologies, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence in agriculture, bringing together producers, experts, and representatives of the technology sector from Croatia and abroad.
