AquafilCRO from Oroslavje is celebrating 25 years of business this year. The Oroslavje plant was taken over by the Aquafil Group in 2001, marking the beginning of the company's long-standing presence on the Croatian market.
AquafilCRO specialises in the finishing, embellishment and texturising of polyamide fibres. The company is part of the international Aquafil Group, a global leader in the production of polyamide 6, which is present on four continents. In the chemical plants of the Aquafil Group, such as the one in Ljubljana, basic synthetic fibres are produced, while AquafilCRO in Oroslavje carries out textile processing of fibres and prepares them for global markets in clothing, swimwear and flooring.
The textile industry in Europe is going through one of the most challenging periods. The industry is facing high energy costs, inflation, a slowdown in the European economy and pressure from Asian markets. In recent months, the focus has been on anti-dumping measures and EU protective tariffs on the import of textile fibres from China.
Aquafil, together with European partners and industry associations, has actively advocated for the introduction of anti-dumping duties. The European Commission's decisions to protect the European nylon and polyamide fibre industry safeguard thousands of jobs in Croatia, Slovenia, Italy and across the EU.
Despite the challenges, AquafilCRO is investing in green energy such as a solar power plant. The company also applies the ECONYL regeneration model, which converts waste into premium fibre without loss of quality. The President of the Board of Directors of AquafilCRO and President of the SLO-CRO Chamber of Economy is Saša Muminović.
