The Building Inspection of the State Inspectorate has closed Enis Bešlagić's construction site in Poplat Bay in the Vela Luka area on Korčula. An inspection confirmed that a floor was unauthorisedly added to an existing residential building without a prior final and enforceable building permit, as well as the unauthorised construction of an outdoor pool.

Construction was halted by the placement of a special official sign reading 'CONSTRUCTION SITE CLOSED'. The inspection procedure is ongoing, and Bešlagić faces a fine of €6,000. The inspection was conducted on the reconstruction of an existing residential building on parcel 12878/81 in the Blato cadastral municipality.

The Building Inspection of the State Inspectorate received several reports regarding the location in October. Following a report from the Vela Luka Municipal Office, an inspector from the State Inspectorate visited the property in Poplat Bay. The Vela Luka Municipal Office had already ordered a halt to works in October.

Bešlagić purchased three plots of land totalling approximately 2,400 square metres in Poplat Bay, in the Vela Luka municipality, about ten years ago. One plot contains a house built with a building permit, with a floor area of 78 square metres. Another plot contains an older residential building that was legalised by the previous owner. During the reconstruction of this older building, the actor added a floor without the necessary permit. Construction of up to three floors is permitted at this location, with a maximum building height of 8.4 metres.

Bešlagić previously told 24sata that he had applied for a building permit but had not waited for its issuance before starting work. The Dubrovnik-Neretva County confirmed that on 30 December 2025, he submitted an application for a building permit for a residential building. He did not attach all the documentation prescribed by law with the application, and was therefore asked to provide it. He requested an extension of the deadline, but the documentation had not been submitted as of the date of publication of this article.

The actor explained at the end of October that he started the works because his house roof was leaking. He said that during the repairs, he decided to reinforce the foundations, build a terrace and an additional room. He emphasised that he is not renovating the house for rental purposes, but for himself and his family. He wants to stay on the island, where, he said, he has invested almost everything he had.

The required board with details of the investor, contractor and construction supervision was not installed at the construction site. Bešlagić was also reported for concreting a pedestrian path in Poplat Bay, which is owned by the Republic of Croatia. The Vela Luka Municipal Office previously requested that the path be returned to its original state, but there is no confirmation yet that the concrete has been removed. Neighbours have also filed additional reports due to suspicions of irregularities on surrounding plots and maritime property. These reports are still in the investigation phase. Photos of the works were taken by Dora Lozica, a journalist for the JUGinfo portal.
