Police officers from the Trogir Police Station have completed the investigation into a 48-year-old man suspected of a number of offences committed on Monday, 21 September 2026, at 17:50 in Gornji Okrug.
According to the investigation, the 48-year-old man disturbed the public peace and order on the beach at Mala draga by shouting at and insulting three men aged 65, 66 and 51. Two of the three men were foreign nationals.
Following the verbal altercation, the 48-year-old man entered a work machine – a loader – which was not in his ownership, started it, and used it to cover the beach with soil and branches where swimmers were present. He then drove the loader towards the 65-year-old man and swung a hammer attached to the machine at him. The victim managed to dodge the blow and was not injured.
The 48-year-old man was arrested and placed in custody. A small quantity of marijuana was found on him, which he was possessing illegally. He will be reported for this offence, in addition to the disturbance of public order.
Following the completion of the investigation, the 48-year-old man was handed over to the detention authorities due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that he had committed two criminal offences: unauthorised use of another's movable property and endangering life and property by an dangerous act. The investigating judge ordered remand in custody.
In the same incident, a criminal complaint will be filed against a 66-year-old man with the competent public prosecutor's office on the grounds that he damaged the glass on the loader machine with a stone. By this act, the 66-year-old man fulfilled the elements of the criminal offence of damaging another's property.
