In the Large Hall of the Croatian Home, the People’s Open University of Petrinja, Exit Theatre from Zagreb presented its play "Little Treasure". This marks the thirtieth performance of the piece, which premiered in October last year.

The play is based on a text by Irish dramaturg Elaine Murphy, with the cast led by Mirela Brekalo, Jelena Miholjević and Anja Jogunica. Miholjević stated that the play is divine, that the actresses love it greatly, and that the audience receives it very warmly.

"Little Treasure" is a life story about three generations — daughter, mother and grandmother — who speak about the challenges of their ages and their times. The play combines comedy with a life drama dimension, and is performed at a steady pace, approximately once or twice a month. Director Lea Anastazija Fleger insisted that the dialogue in the play be delivered in a Zagreb civic dialect. Jelena Miholjević is the daughter of the renowned Croatian actor and Petrinja native Boris Miholjević.

Alongside theatre visits, Croatian Book Month is underway, running from 15 October to 15 November under the slogan "From Stories to Discoveries". The event lasts for 30 days, and this year's edition is dedicated to natural sciences, scientific books and the popularisation of science.

The Nova Gradiška City Library has prepared numerous contents dedicated to books, including workshops, literary and popular science meetings, book presentations, a theatre play and guest appearances. The guests include Zoran Vakula, Krešimir Mišak and Laura Barabaš.

More than 2,000 programmes will be offered across the country, with the theme chosen to mark significant anniversaries of Croatian scientists, including Marin Getaldić, Nikola Tesla, Vladimir Prelog and Mijo Kišpatić. The event serves as an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of reading and critical thinking.
