The Belišće City Library and Reading Room launched this year's Croatian Book Month with an educational photo workshop for primary school pupils titled 'From stories to discoveries', held on Thursday, 15 October 2026. The workshop was organised in cooperation with the Valpovo-Belišće Centre for Technical Culture and led by mentors Dragan Francuz and Marijan Antolović.
Participants used cameras to photograph old motherboards, electronic components and parts of technical devices. In doing so, they learned the basics of photography, framing and composition, as well as the possibilities of close-up and macro shots. The Belišće library invites the general public to follow and participate in the current Croatian Book Month programme. The text was written by Dijana Crljenić, and the photographs were taken by Ina Zamaklar and the Belišće Library.
The day before, the Valpovo City Library and Reading Room ceremonially opened Croatian Book Month 2026, which also carries the slogan 'From stories to discoveries' in Valpovo. The programme began with the opening of a photography exhibition by Goran Dojkić – Gobel. Library director Sandra Miljački Andrić discussed his work and the creation of the photographs with the author, while Matko Florijančić, president of the Valpovo Photo Club, offered a few words about the artist. Zvonimir Hajnc officially opened the exhibition.
The musical part of the programme was provided by Emily Maras and Nikola Svrtan, students of the Music art incubator, accompanied by Irene Dujmović on guitar and Marko Glavica on piano. The exhibition can be viewed at the Valpovo library until 15 November 2026.
The literary part of the evening continued with the presentation of Josip Frajlić-Roni's first poetry collection, 'Questions older than me'. The collection contains around 100 poems written over the course of the author's life, dealing with themes of youth and old age, love, transience, and the fusion of the real and the artistic. Dr sc Dinko Župan discussed the collection with the author.
