On Tuesday, 3 November 2026, the Belišće City Library and Reading Room held an event as part of this year's Croatian Book Month programme. It was an all-day initiative to gift books to users, organised to mark the fourth anniversary of the library's move to the renovated Gutmann Palace.

Throughout the day, anyone who renewed their existing membership or became a new user of the library was entitled to a literary surprise. The event thus linked two aims — marking a significant spatial milestone and encouraging membership in the institution.

Retired librarian Jasna Andrišić from Belišće made a special contribution to the event. She wrapped about 15 books of various genres and themes in decorative paper, turning them into gifts, which gave each surprise a personal and festive tone.

The event resulted in numerous renewals of memberships by long-standing users of the Belišće library. The registration of new users was also recorded, further confirming that such activities are recognised within the local community.

The Croatian Book Month programme was thus used in Belišće for direct engagement between the library and its users. Gifting books, alongside renewing and acquiring membership, proved to be an effective way to mark the anniversary of the move to the renovated Gutmann Palace.
