The town of Belišće solemnly marked Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and Croatian Veterans Day on Wednesday, 5 August. On this occasion, the local community also commemorated the 31st anniversary of the Military-Police Operation Storm, paying tribute to all participants in the Croatian War of Independence.

As part of the commemorative programme, the traditional cycling event titled “Cycling to the Monument” was held. This event brought together numerous citizens, veterans, and representatives of various institutions, who highlighted the significance of the date for Croatian society through their joint ride.

The cycling event served as an opportunity for collective remembrance and honouring the fallen and veterans, blending a sporting spirit with historical memory. The gathering underscored community unity in respecting the values that have shaped Croatian history.
