One of the agenda items at the City Council meeting was the half-year report on the work of the Đurđevac City Library, presented by acting director Bernarda Ferderber.

In the first half of this year, the library continued to carry out its library services, develop cultural and educational programmes, and work to ensure that library services are accessible to all groups of citizens. In addition to regular operations, care for the library collection and planning the acquisition of new library materials, it implemented programmes aimed at children, young people and adults. Cooperation with city institutions, associations and educational institutions also continued.

The period was particularly marked by the acquisition of two major European projects. The project “Jump into the Story – every page a new adventure” is worth approximately €305,000 and is being implemented under the European Social Fund Plus, as part of the “Reading for an Inclusive Society” call. It is being carried out in partnership with the City of Đurđevac and the Little Prince Association, with the aim of developing inclusive library services and bringing books and reading closer to citizens who have difficulty accessing the library due to various circumstances. The purchase of a bookmobile is planned as part of the project.

The second project, “Imagination Ship: Art that Connects Generations”, is worth approximately €105,000 and is being implemented in partnership with the City of Đurđevac and the SUMA association. Various creative and artistic activities aimed at children and older people are planned over 24 months.

This year is special for the Đurđevac City Library also because of the marking of significant anniversaries – 150 years of library tradition in Đurđevac, 30 years of the library operating in its new premises, and 30 years of the Children’s Department.

The work of the Đurđevac City Library, as well as the successful implementation of the European projects, was praised by the President of the City Council and Member of Parliament Željko Lacković, and Mayor Hrvoje Janči.
