One of the most important projects in the municipality area is the construction of the Lukač irrigation system, which in the first phase will cover 447 hectares of agricultural land. Virovitica-Podravina County (Virovitičko-podravska županija) Prefect Igor Andrović stressed that this is an investment worth approximately 11 million euros that should enable farmers to have safer and more competitive production. He recalled that for the third consecutive year a natural disaster has been declared due to drought, and expressed his belief that the irrigation system, with water from the Drava river, will help farmers be more competitive on the market and achieve greater yields. He also announced the preparation of a second phase of the system, which would cover an additional approximately 500 hectares, while the long-term goal of the County is to reach 10,000 hectares of irrigated land. Andrović stressed the continuation of cooperation between Virovitica-Podravina County and the Municipality of Lukač in the realisation of future projects, and that the County, in cooperation with the competent institutions, will continue to work on securing funds for the realisation of agglomerations.
On the issue of agglomerations, MP Josip Đakić also spoke, stressing the need to secure funds for the realisation of projects that have been in preparation for years.
