Glasgow Warriors defeated Connacht 36-19, continuing their unbeaten start to the United Rugby Championship season. The victory was secured with a bonus point, as the home side scored five tries.
Following a draw with Ulster the previous week, the Warriors were seeking their first home victory of the season. Connacht, however, started the match aggressively, with the early stages of the game largely confined to the home side's half. Sean Jansen broke through the line, sending the ball into the in-goal area for Connacht to take the lead.
The Warriors' first real foray into the opposition's half came via a rolling maul from a line-out, with Gregor Hiddleston scoring. The second Glasgow try followed from another driving maul, finished off by Rory Darge. George Horne added the conversion, giving the Warriors a five-point lead.
Prop Sam Illo was sent to the sin-bin for an infringement on the rolling maul. Hiddlester then extended the lead, and Glasgow went into the break with a 12-point advantage.
Dan Lancaster found Jamie Dobbie with a precise kick, and Dobbie then chipped a ball for Josh to chase, who grounded it for a bonus-point try. Josh Ioan reduced the deficit, bringing his side within reach at 26-14, and then scored a try in the corner, making the score one-sided.
The reserve player was sent to the sin-bin for a high tackle on Seba Stephen. Glasgow immediately punished Connacht with another rolling maul from a line-out, which Seba Stephen finished. Lancaster added a simple conversion at the end, securing the maximum five points for the Warriors.
