Hajduk suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Cypriot side Pafos in Limassol last night, ending their European campaign in the third qualifying round of the Conference League. The Split-based side failed to defend their two-goal advantage from the first leg, and the final result means they will face Lithuanian club Žalgiris in the next round of qualifying.

The match passed without much excitement for the home crowd until extra time, when Hajduk showed the first signs of danger. Niko Sigur attempted to surprise goalkeeper Majecky, but the effort came to nothing, and Pafos confirmed their dominance with precise goals until the end of the match.

Pafos goalscorers were Guga, who struck in the 40th minute, and Goldar, who found the net in the first minute of stoppage time. In the second half of extra time, Biel scored in the 93rd minute, while Correia added a goal in the 117th minute, setting the final score at 4-0 on the night and securing the aggregate victory.

Hajduk will host Lithuanian side Žalgiris in the Conference League play-off, who also progressed after a dramatic turnaround. Žalgiris overturned a 3-0 deficit from the first leg against Georgian club Dinamo Tbilisi to advance to the next round with an aggregate score of 7-5.
