Hajduk suffered a defeat away to Lincoln Red Imps in the third round of the Conference League. The only goal of the match came in the 89th minute, when Dennis Hadžikadunić sent the ball into his own net. Notably, the hosts won without registering a single shot on target.
Lincoln Red Imps manager Juan Manuel Pavon did not hide his delight after the victory. He stated that he was happy and that he was most pleased with the way his players conducted the match against an opponent who surely expected things to unfold differently.
Pavon emphasised that they played against a team with significant attacking potential, but managed to contain them. He added that they faced a major European side with excellent supporters who cheered their team throughout the entire match. Despite their team losing, according to Pavon, everything was fair in the end.
When asked if this was his biggest victory in his career, Pavon replied that it was possible, given the opponent and the manner in which they secured the win.
This defeat is Hajduk's first in the Conference League. In the fourth round, the Whites will host Belgian side St. Truiden in Split, with the match taking place on 26 November at 21:00.
