Bayern Munich and Arsenal drew 2-2 in their Champions League match, with Harry Kane as the central figure, scoring a goal and etching his name into the competition's history. Kane became only the second player in Champions League history to score in 10 consecutive matches. Before him, only Cristiano Ronaldo had achieved this, finding the net in 11 consecutive games for Real Madrid between June 2017 and April 2018.
Arsenal took the lead through Eberechi Eze, but Kane subsequently broke through the visitors' defence. He first curled the ball past Jurriën Timber to allow Alphonso Davies to finish the move, and then, from inside the penalty area in the middle of the second half, put Bayern ahead. In one of the actions, Kane delivered a pass of 80 yards. Declan Rice struck in the closing stages for the final 2-2, securing a point for Arsenal.
Kane's goal against Arsenal was his 16th in his career against that club. In total, since joining Bayern Munich from Tottenham in 2023, he has scored 156 goals in 158 appearances. Kane is 33 years old today and was included in the list of 30 candidates for the Ballon d'Or in September.
The Ballon d'Or winner will be announced on Monday, following a vote by an international jury of 100 journalists, with the ceremony taking place in London. "It would be great to win," Kane said, adding: "The voting ended a long time ago, so there is nothing I can do, I am just waiting to see what happens."
Rice told TNT Sports that Kane is the clear winner: "His numbers speak for themselves. The year he has had has been outstanding." Ndumong Onuoha highlighted for BBC Sport: "Under Vincent Kompany, he has gained a level of confidence he probably has never had under any other manager."
