Harry Kane has signed a new contract with Bayern Munich that keeps him at the club until 2029. This ends the uncertainty surrounding the English striker's future.

The new deal secures Kane's presence at Bayern until just before his 36th birthday. It covers the period up to the 2028 European Championship and binds him until within a year of the 2030 World Cup.

Kane scored a club-record 61 goals in 51 matches last season, as Bayern won the double — the league and the cup. In the 2024/25 season, he was named Bundesliga Player of the Season, and this season he has added 12 goals for Bayern, bringing his total to 156 in 161 matches. In the Bundesliga, he has scored 102 goals in 102 matches, won three consecutive Golden Boots and two league titles, and has won five trophies in total with Bayern, including the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup in 2025 and 2026. Last month, he was crowned the world's best male player at the Ballon d'Or ceremony, becoming the first Bundesliga player to receive the award since 1996.

"I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich," Kane said. "We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club." He added: "My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I'm now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club." Kane previously stated that he wanted to prove himself at the highest level when he moved to Germany, and had never before won a major trophy with a club or country.

By signing the new contract, Bayern has rejected interest from Barcelona, which had a long-standing interest in Kane, while clubs from Saudi Arabia had also been linked with him. Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said: "We're absolutely delighted, because with Harry Kane we have the Ballon d'Or winner on the pitch - a team player, a leader, the best all-round striker in the world." He added: "We all benefit from his qualities as a player and as a person, day in, day out. FC Bayern thrives on players who never stop giving their all, even when they have already achieved the greatest of goals."

Kane was born in Leytonstone, is the captain of England and the country's all-time leading male scorer. For England and Bayern, he scored 73 goals in 65 matches in the 2025/26 season, and in September he equalled Peter Shilton's record of 125 caps for England. At this year's World Cup, he scored six goals and became England's all-time top scorer in the competition with 14 goals in 18 matches. In the Premier League, where he played for Tottenham, he is 47 goals away from equalling Alan Shearer's record of 260 goals.
