Arsenal defeated Hull City 1-0 at home in a match played at the Emirates Stadium. The only goal of the game was scored by captain Martin Odegaard in the 72nd minute, securing a vital victory for the side.
This win further consolidated Arsenal's position at the top of the Premier League. After ten matches in the 2022-23 season, the team has accumulated 27 points, and thanks to this result, Arsenal have continued their run of success at home. The side have won their last 10 home matches in all competitions, keeping a clean sheet in eight of those games.
Under manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have recorded an impressive run of 1-0 victories, totalling 34 such wins since his arrival in 2019, which is the best record in the league during that period. However, despite their successes, the team have yet to score more than two goals in a league match since the start of the season, when they netted three against Coventry.
The match was also marked by a controversial moment in the first half, when VAR reviewed a potential penalty for a shirt pull on Kai Havertz by Nobel Mendy. Referee Farai Hallam reviewed the situation on the pitch-side monitor but decided that play had been stopped due to Havertz's offside position, so the penalty was disallowed.
Unfortunately, Arsenal are still without Bukayo Saka, who is injured due to a quadriceps issue, while Christos Tzolis, who had started the season well, is sidelined following a hamstring injury sustained while playing for the Greece national team.
