Pellitory won the Ayn Gold Cup, with his trainer David O'Meara. The race was postponed due to heavy rain falling during the night and into Saturday morning. Two track inspections were carried out, and the race was delayed, but it was ultimately given the green light to proceed.
Danny Tudhope won the Ayr Gold Cup for the second time. Tudhope became the first Scottish winner of the race in 50 years when he rode Summerghand to victory in 2022. Tuco Salamanca finished in second place. Binharee and Far Above Dream were joint favourites but did not place on the podium.
Pelliner is owned by Evan Sutherland. He is better known for races over seven furlongs, and this victory marked his first win over a shorter distance. Tudhope said: "He had never been back to six furlongs, it was a bold move." He added: "Winning this race once was incredible, winning it twice is amazing. I couldn't be happier."
O'Meara said: "We thought he would like these conditions. He can handle seven furlongs and has run a mile – that is a huge thing today."
