Ross Smith from England is the winner of the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam. He defeated Gerwyn Price 11-5, the BBC reports.
Smith secured the victory in the deciding leg, winning the final six legs, which broke the deadlock in the final. Price, the two-time winner of this tournament, had levelled the score at 5-5, but after the break, Smith won the next three legs, including checkout 127 and 123.
This was Smith's second major title. His previous success on the PDC World Tour was the 2022 European Championship. He is currently ranked 14th in the world, and in the final, he hit 11 maximums (180), while Price recorded five.
On the way to the title, Smith defeated Josh Rock from Northern Ireland 10-7 in the quarter-finals, and in the semi-finals, he beat Dutchman Gian van Veen 11-8. He was competing for a prize of £100,000.
Price had defeated James Wade in the quarter-finals, and in the semi-finals, he beat his compatriot Jonny Clayton. Price had won this tournament in 2020 and 2022.
World number one Luke Littler was eliminated earlier, with Clayton defeating him 10-4 in the quarter-finals. Littler had won the World Championship in January, and during the year, he had also triumphed at the World Masters, UK Open, Premier League, World Cup of Darts, and World Matchplay. The player based in Warrington had threatened to boycott the event in the Netherlands after the crowd booed him during his victory in the last 16 against Nathan Aspinall.
