Luke Littler was defeated in the first round of the World Grand Prix by Luke Woodhouse in Leicester. Littler, seeking a comeback following a quarter-final defeat to Jonny Clayton, lost 3-1 in legs in the decisive set.
Littler took the first set, but Woodrose levelled the match and then delivered a checkout of 75. Littler averaged 82.41 throughout the match. Woodhouse will face Nathan Aspinall in the quarter-finals, who won 2-1 in the first round against Dutch debutant Kevin Doets.
Michael van Gerwen, the six-time winner of the tournament, lost his last six legs. Ryan Joyce, the 2024 semi-finalist, won 2-1 and will face Dutchman Danny Noppert, who won 2-1 against German opponent Niels de Rooj.
Gerwyn Price from Wales lost only one leg and defeated Sebastian Biala 2-0. Price will face Englishman Ross Smith, who won 2-1 after losing to Cameron Menzies.
Clayton from Wales defeated Krzysztof Ratajski 2-1 and will face Dutchman Wessel Nijman. Nijman won in straight sets against world champion Rob Cross.
