Manchester United are closely monitoring Porto’s 22-year-old right-back Alberto Costa, but they face competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the race for his signature.

At the centre of attention is also the situation at Manchester City. The club is set to place a high price on Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, 26, should he fall out of the Premier League due to a breach of financial rules.

Interest in Haaland is not lacking. Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona are among the clubs interested in the Norwegian striker, and are closely monitoring the situation at Manchester City due to the possibility of sanctions.

The market also includes former Chelsea and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling. He has been offered to two clubs in France’s Ligue 1, but neither has shown interest in the 31-year-old Englishman, who is currently a free agent.

In Turkey, Besiktas president Serdal Adali has committed to signing 27-year-old Joe Willock in January, stating that the midfielder has already chosen his new home in Turkey.

Former Newcastle manager Eddie Howe will not return to the Premier League with a lower-ranked or mid-table club such as Crystal Palace or Fulham. Howe would like to take charge of a big club that is not performing well.

Liverpool, meanwhile, remain interested in Real Madrid’s French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, although the 26-year-old recently signed a long-term contract with the La Liga club.
