Luka Vušković, the young Croatian international, gave an interview to The Athletic ahead of the new season, revealing details about his role at Brighton and his personal reflections. The central defender highlighted that his arrival at the English club was a key point in the summer project to rebuild the defence, describing the transfer as the smartest move for the development of his career.
Vušković emphasised that adapting to the new environment was exceptionally easy thanks to the support of teammates, the manager and the entire club from day one. Despite the fact that there is a large number of quality players in his position at Brighton, the young Croatian international believes he will secure playing time through his performances, noting that the player who shows the best results in matches and training will be the one to feature.
Speaking about Brighton itself, Vušković described it as a top-class club with one of the best systems in the world for developing young players. Although he acknowledges that the Premier League is the best league in the world, it was not his main motivation. In the future, he dreams of playing in Spain's La Liga, but for now he is focused on success in the English championship, where he will soon play his first match for his new club.
He dedicated a special part of the interview to his hometown and Hajduk. Although he has a tattoo of Poljud stadium, which is his first and favourite stadium, Vušković is honest in his assessment of its current physical condition. He believes that Poljud is truly beautiful, but warns that the venue is somewhat falling apart and urgently needs renovation to retain its former glory.
