Luka Vušković returned to Tottenham this summer after a loan spell at German side HSV, but the London club did not retain him in their squad. Brighton seized the opportunity, paying €54 million for the Croatian centre-back, a club record.

In an interview with the British newspaper The Argus, Vušković stated that he holds no grudge against his former club. "Tottenham really helped me when I was a teenager," he said, adding that he spent two years with Tottenham, including periods on loan. "I am truly grateful to them," he added.

Despite this, the centre-back does not hide that he is not entirely clear why Tottenham did not want to keep him. "I am now at Brighton and I feel great," Vušković stated. "It is an incredible club that believes in me. In the end, I do not know why Tottenham did not want me, but Brighton believed in me."

Vušković also revealed that he had known Brighton wanted to sign him several years ago. "I am really satisfied with my choice," he said. "It is truly a fantastic club with young talent."

He cited the match against Manchester United as his best moment so far, in which his team came back from a 0-2 deficit to win 3-2.
