The Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, accused European states of fueling the war in Ukraine and doing everything possible to prevent the possibility of peace talks. This was stated during his address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Lavrov said that Europe does everything possible to prevent a peaceful solution and disrupts the process of negotiations that are of interest to many parties, including the government of US President Donald Trump. He added that the West is supplying the Ukrainian government with weapons and helping Kyiv to target civilians and civilian infrastructure with drones and missiles.
He stressed that the war against Ukraine will continue. "Our struggle for truth and justice will continue to the end," Lavrov said, adding that military objectives will be achieved. "The threat to Russian security will be removed and a peaceful life will be restored," he said.
The Russian minister criticised the West, stating that the Western minority, which has dominated for fifty years by exploiting other nations, is not giving up its attempt to maintain its privileges and impose its rules on everyone. He added that the West is increasingly resorting to force, acting unpredictably and irresponsibly, endangering the lives and well-being of millions, if not billions, of people on this planet we share.
Lavrov's address in New York was delivered to the United Nations General Assembly, in which the Russian foreign minister reiterated a number of accusations against European countries and the West as a whole.
