When officers arrived at the scene, they determined that the object found in a suitcase by the roadside, near Goulburn in the regional part of New South Wales, was not human remains. It was a doll placed near the road, and its presence caused initial confusion and concern among those who reported the incident.
Although it was not a human body, the doll attracted further attention due to its exceptional realism. Police reports highlighted that the doll resembled human remains to such an extent that it could be misleading. The object had visible marks that visually resembled bruises and scratches, further enhancing the illusion that it was an injured person.
Officers confirmed after a detailed examination that it was an artificial object, dispelling any suspicion of a victim of violence or an accident. The incident occurred at a location approximately 40 km south of the town of Goulburn, in an area belonging to regional New South Wales.
After establishing that it was a doll, police concluded the investigation into this specific report, with no further criminal proceedings as no offence had been committed. The case illustrated how extremely realistic objects can trigger false alarms and unnecessarily burden emergency services.
