A new digital service is set to simplify entry into Croatia and accelerate customs procedures, according to a press release. The solution allows travellers to settle their customs obligations before they even reach the border.
The key innovation is the ability for travellers to declare goods and calculate duties before arriving at the border crossing. This avoids waiting at the crossing itself, shifting the process to a digital format that can be completed in advance.
The change takes effect on 1 November 2026. From that date, travellers bringing goods into Croatia subject to import duties will face a significant change in how those duties are declared and calculated.
The aim of the new system is to reduce dwell time at the border and make entry into the country simpler for travellers. Instead of settling obligations only at the crossing, travellers will be able to resolve them in advance, thereby speeding up the customs process.
Details on how to use the service and the scope of goods covered will be known by the start of implementation. The release indicates that the system combines simplified entry into Croatia with faster customs procedures.
