On the island of Plavnik, a Kvarner pearl situated between Krk and Cres, an eco action was held on 3 October during which 220 kilograms of plastic and debris were collected. The clean-up began on the beach on the southern side of the island, after which the group headed towards Krušija Bay.
In Krušija Bay, participants continued cleaning the bay, covering a larger part of the coastal area designated for the action. In addition to removing waste, a sustainable cosmetics workshop was also held in the same bay, led by Tanja Meštrović.
The workshop gave participants the opportunity to learn about making cosmetics in a sustainable way, giving the ecological action an educational character. This linked the island clean-up with promoting a responsible attitude towards the environment.
After the activities, participants returned to Krk on the same day at around 16:00. The action thus concluded within the scheduled time, and the collected amount of plastic and debris confirms the scale of pollution in this part of the Kvarner archipelago.
Plavnik island, located between Krk and Cres, is recognised as a Kvarner pearl, and such actions contribute to the preservation of its beaches and bays. The 220 kilograms of waste collected indicates the need for regular cleaning and care for the marine environment.
