In Petrinja on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, the 31st anniversary of the participation of the 2nd Guard Brigade 'Thunder', the 57th Brigade of the Croatian Army 'Marijan Čeljak' and the 12th Petrinja Home Guard in the Military-Police Operation 'Storm' was marked. Numerous state, county and municipal delegations attended the ceremony, as well as family members of fallen veterans, among them the families of Stjepan Grgac-Grgic.
The commemoration in Petrinja began with a tribute to Colonel Predrag Matanovic and his comrades at Senjak. Wreaths and candles were laid by numerous delegations, led by the families of fallen Croatian veterans. The Association of Veterans of the 2nd Guard Brigade 'Thunder' president, Nenad Bužani, participated in the event which included lighting candles and a joint prayer.
In Crikvenica, the 31st anniversary of the Military-Police Operation 'Storm' was also marked. Representatives of the city, led by Mayor Ivona Matosic Gaspar, paid tribute to the Croatian veterans who gave their lives in the creation of a free and independent Republic of Croatia.
In Petrinja, special tribute was paid to Stjepan Grgac-Grga, his comrades and all Croatian veterans who died in the military-police operation 'Storm'. The ceremony included laying wreaths and lighting candles, with many delegations paying their respects to the victims alongside the families of the fallen.
