At the Krapina Festival Hall on Thursday, 24 September 2026, the 10th ceremony for the first-degree graduates of Veleučilište Hrvatsko zagorje Krapina was held. 65 new graduates received their diplomas, rounding off another generation of students at this higher education institution.
The deputy county governor, Jasna Petek, highlighted the importance of investment in education and the opportunities provided by higher education in Krapina. She noted that Krapina-Zagorje County is currently in a major investment cycle worth more than 130 million euros, relating to improvements in primary schools and their preparation for single-shift teaching.
The dean, Nenad Sikirica, spoke of the nearly two decades of work at the college, detailing what has been built over the years and the future of studying in Krapina. He recalled that the institution was established in 2007 at the initiative of the local community and business sector, with the aim of providing quality higher education to young people in the Krapina-Zagorje County and training professionals needed for the region's economic development.
Veleučilište Hrvatsko zagorje Krapina began its operations as the Višja škola „Hrvatsko zagorje“ Krapina, which was officially opened on 22 October 2007. The permit for the professional study of Operational Management was granted in 2010, and after meeting the conditions for upgrading to a college, it was registered as Veleučilište „Hrvatsko zagorje“ Krapina in 2011. Since 2019, the college has been a public institution, allowing students to study without paying tuition fees.
The college currently offers three undergraduate professional degrees: Informatics, Transport Logistics, and Operational Management. The ceremony thus highlighted the continuity of the institution's development and its role in training personnel for local business needs.
