The municipalities of Čaglin and Brestovac in the Požega-Slavonia County have stood out with exceptional results in marriage and divorce rates during 2025. While Čaglin recorded zero finalised divorces, Brestovac ranked among the municipalities with the highest frequency of marriages relative to its population.
According to 2025 data, approximately nine and a half marriages per thousand inhabitants were recorded in Brestovac. This high percentage makes the municipality one of the leaders in Croatia for the density of marriage formations, contrasting with Čaglin, where there was a complete absence of divorces.
Nationally, a total of 5,040 marriages were contracted across all Croatian municipalities in 2025. This figure is 59 higher than the previous year, indicating a slight rise in interest in marriage at the level of local self-government.
During the same period, 1,297 divorces were registered in all Croatian municipalities. The number of divorced marriages also increased, by 103 compared to 2024. On average, one in four marriages was dissolved in municipalities relative to the total number contracted, suggesting a more stable situation at the local level compared to the national average.
Looking at the broader picture, 17,270 marriages were contracted across Croatia in 2025, while 5,674 marriages were finalised as divorced. For every thousand marriages contracted nationally, approximately 329 divorces were recorded.
In addition to Čaglin, the municipalities of Ernestinovo, Lovas, Strahoninec, Donja Motičina, Rogoznica, Pokupsko, Tribunj, Murter-Kornati, and Zagorska Sela also recorded no divorces during 2025.
