A new centre for marital and family issues has officially opened in Vinkovci. The institution began operations on 1 September, with the opening ceremony held in a premises located at 53 Andrija Kačić Miošić Street. The initiative relies on cooperation between local authorities and church institutions, aiming to provide additional support to families in this part of Croatia.
The establishment process was made possible through the collaboration of the Đakovo-Osijek Archdiocese, county, and municipal authorities. The space, where professional assistance will be provided, was blessed by Drago Tukara, director of Caritas in the Archdiocese of Đakova-Osijek. This step represents a significant move in strengthening family communities at the local level, with an emphasis on the joint action of institutions.
Specialists provide assistance in the new centre, with Josipa Otal acting as the lead specialist. The centre is open to all who feel the need for support, whether couples seeking solutions to crises in their relationships, or individuals and families. The institution's aim is to promote family values through social connection, counselling, psychotherapy, prevention, and education.
The opening was met with positive reactions from local officials. Andrea Vinković, head of the Department for Social Affairs at the City of Vinkovci, highlighted that the project demonstrates that the church and the local community care for their citizens. The head of the county office, Marko Dikonić, noted that this is an example of successful cooperation between the county, cities, local self-governments, and the Church, further confirming the importance of joint action in addressing social issues.
