The 'Mali veliki svjetovi' (Little Big Worlds) association is the first on the island of Krk dedicated to supporting children with developmental disabilities, people with disabilities, and their families. The official opening of the newly renovated premises is scheduled for 17:00 on 15 October 2026, at Poje 1 in Omišalj.
The association was founded in December 2025 and began concrete work in March 2026. Over the past months, it has brought together families, launched activities for children, provided a space for parental support, and started building a community. In just a few months, it has gathered 42 members.
One of the reasons for founding the association was the lack of professional content, therapies, and workshops for children with disabilities on the island of Krk. Parents often had to travel to Rijeka and other larger towns. The association therefore aims to make some of these services available on the island and gradually expand programmes by including additional experts.
Currently, exercises for the development of fine and gross motor skills are being conducted, along with creative and sensory workshops, and group support for parents led by a psychologist. Emphasis is also placed on supporting parents through conversation, exchange of experiences, and professional assistance.
The official opening will provide an opportunity for members, families, volunteers, collaborators, donors, and representatives of the local community to learn about the association’s work so far and its future plans. The long-term goal of the association is to expand its programmes and enable families to find as much of the necessary support as possible on the island.
