The association 'Su si tu?' in collaboration with the Opatia Festival has announced the launch of a new cultural programme, the Liburnia Children's Musical Theatre. This initiative is aimed at children and young people aged 8 to 16, with work taking place throughout the year in the space of the Gervais Centre, which thus becomes the central hub of this artistic project.
The programme is designed to build on the rich cultural tradition of Opatia and the surrounding area, utilising the existing infrastructure and the city's strong festival identity. Through its year-round work, the programme unites three key artistic disciplines: music, drama, and dance. The aim is to guide participants towards creating their own musical-theatre productions, specifically children's musicals, thereby enriching the cultural offerings of Opatia and the wider Liburnia region.
In partnership with the Opatia Festival, the association is launching a permanent children's musical ensemble. The main tasks of the ensemble include developing the musical, dance, and dramatic skills of the participants, creating a repertoire that includes both original and adapted works, and linking artistic-pedagogical work with theatrical production. An additional aim of the programme is to develop a new audience, particularly children and families, for theatrical performances.
The artistic-pedagogical team for the programme consists of experts from various fields. Musical pedagogy is led by Natasa Banova, while dramatic pedagogy is taught by Nikolina Hrga and Marina Mavrin Matulja. The dance component will be led by Martina Laginja and Larisa Stjepančič from the RiDance Association. The ensemble's work is organised in groups, which will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays, with each session lasting two hours.
