Police have arrested a man suspected of committing an act of vandalism in the area of Međugorje. The suspect was apprehended in the village of Cerno, which is located in the municipality of Livno, bringing an end to the search for the individual who damaged the property at the well-known shrine.
Identification of the perpetrator was facilitated by local residents who recognised the individual near the scene of the incident. After establishing his identity, the locals took action and detained the suspect on the spot. This prevented the perpetrator from escaping and ensured his presence until the arrival of police officers.
Details of the sequence of events were provided by witnesses, including Vinko Vučić, who described the situation immediately prior to the arrest. According to his account, the suspect was moving towards the village of Cerno, which gave locals sufficient time to locate and control him.
Vučić confirmed to the media that they had received information about the vandalism in the early hours. He stated that they learned from the media that police were intensively searching for the perpetrator, which prompted the local community to take swift action. His testimony contributes to a better understanding of the dynamics of the incident and the cooperation between the police and the public.
