A formal reception hosted by Mayor Javor Bojan Leš was held in the study space of the Ivanić-Grad City Library on Monday, 19 October. On this occasion, the mayor presented awards to students and their mentors for exceptional results achieved in national competitions and festivals during the 2025/2026 school year.
A total of 16 recipients received the awards, comprising seven students and nine mentors. Among the honourees were students who achieved notable results in biology, Croatian language, geography, informatics, mathematics, logic and philosophy, as well as those who distinguished themselves in literary and visual arts.
Mayor Javor Bojan Leš congratulated the students on their achievements and specifically thanked their teachers, mentors and principals. He emphasised that these awards and the accompanying cash prizes serve as a sign of gratitude and confirmation that the City follows and values the work of the honourees.
Among the awarded students is Fran Ozimec, a fourth-year pupil at Ivan Švear Secondary School, who won four medals at national competitions. These included first places in geography and informatics, and third places in mathematics and logic and philosophy. After completing secondary school, he is considering enrolling at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER), most likely for a computer science degree, although he has not yet made a final decision.

He had won second place in the previous two years, while this year three of Professor Pižir’s students participated in the national competition. Two female pupils won fifth places, while Ivan Matija took first.
