On Friday and Saturday, 7 and 8 August, officials from the Port Authority of Rijeka and its subordinate offices successfully rescued a total of four people who found themselves in dangerous situations at sea. Two people in a kayak were caught in a strong bura wind, which carried them to the Voz cove on the island of Krk. Another person was rescued from a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) after being carried by the wind past Njivica, also in the area of Krk.
The fourth person was rescued near Klenova, where the wind carried them on a SUP board away from the local camp towards the open sea. All four people were rescued without injury and returned to the places from which they had set out. The Split Port Authority also had an intervention in the Bay of Kaštela on Saturday, where they rescued two people who had found themselves in a dangerous situation on a single SUP board. The two people were rescued and returned to the place from which they had set out without incident.
The Split Port Authority dealt with a situation on the north-east side of the island of Murter, where a person fell from a small boat into the sea during the journey. The person who fell into the sea was rescued without injury. A private rubber dinghy, without a crew, continued to drift uncontrollably and struck the shore of the islet of Sustipan. The rubber dinghy hit the shore exactly between two moored vessels.
There was no collision with other vessels nor pollution of the sea. During Friday and Saturday, the Split Port Authority carried out four medical transports from the islands. Seven patients in total were transported by boat to Split's Port.
