The leadership of the SDP has determined that the case of MEP Roma Jerković Kraljić is a heavy reputational burden, and a disciplinary procedure is being initiated in which she will most likely be expelled from the party. The party's president, Siniša Hajduš, stated that it is not enough that Jerković Kralji has stated she did nothing wrong, and that she will have to provide additional explanations.
The case concerns a trip to Strasbourg for talks on health, on which Jerković Kralji led members of the family and people not connected to health. Among them were art historian and theatre actor, and these people were presented as health workers of specific Rijeka health institutions. Jerković Kralji justified that she did nothing wrong and that it was an administrative error.
It was revealed, however, that the trip was not the only one. Jerković Kralji also took winemakers, although the official reason was neither eno- nor gastro-nomy.
Jerković Kralji barely 'made it' into the European Parliament as she received only a thousand more preference votes. Some candidates on the same list, such as Dalija Orešković, were far behind her in number of votes, and the SDP woman was pulled by a high place on the list. Then she said that the party was not putting her in that place because she had a beautiful smile.
The party has significantly weakened in Rijeka. Previously, the party's base was, but on the local elections it stopped being, and the party's rating is falling again.
In the context of spending on study trips, the MEP Bosnian has spent part of the funds he has at his disposal on the trip of citizens who have given blood for testing on PFAS. The median wage in Croatia is 1,346 euros.
