The tourist board of the Srce Međimurje region and the local municipality of Šenkovец are jointly announcing an event titled the Black Oil Festival. This event, scheduled for 12 September, is the first in a series of similar gatherings in the region, with the aim of creating a new, lasting tradition through traditional tastes and aromas that connects the local community with visitors.
The event is designed to promote local identity, particularly highlighting the significance of pumpkin seed oil, which has become a distinctive feature of this area. Participants and visitors will have access to a wide range of local products, with carefully curated snacks suitable for all tastes. In addition to the culinary experience, the programme includes workshops, with a particular focus on those aimed at children, aiming to spark interest in traditional values among the youngest attendees.
The cultural programme features content suitable for the whole family, with a central role for the cultural arts. Visitors can look forward to a performance by a tamburitza ensemble, which will contribute to creating a pleasant and cheerful atmosphere. A special highlight will be the performance by children from the local kindergarten 'Vrapčić' and the primary school 'Petar Zrinski' in Šenkovец, highlighting the connection between generations through shared enjoyment of local traditions and tastes.
