The 26th edition of the Slavian Forest Festival (Dani slavonske šume) has been announced in Našič, scheduled for 4 and 5 September. The announcement was made at the entrance to the Perivoj Peačević, where Ines Resler, director of the local tourist board, presented the event. The festival is one of the largest cultural and economic events in the town, bringing together lovers of forestry, tradition, and entertainment.
The festival will span two days. On Friday, 4 September, the first part of the programme will take place in the industrial zone, where Hrvatske šume (Croatian Forests) will hold a lecture. In the evening, a Tambura evening will be held on Trg dr. Franje Tuđmana. The atmosphere will be guided by Branko Uvodić, with the musical programme completed by the group Đakovački, Marija Pavković, and Viktorija Kulišić.
The central part of the event is reserved for Saturday, 5 September, when the main activities will take place in the Perivoj Peačević. The opening ceremony will feature performances by the cultural and artistic societies Tamburica Velimirovac and HKD Lisinski Našice, along with addresses from distinguished guests and hosts. Visitors can expect forestry worker competitions, a rural Slavonia fair, and the traditional Podravka Čobanac cup. Additionally, the Našice Kinological Society will organise an exhibition of hunting dogs, and a funfair will be set up at the park entrance for children.
Around 50 workers from six management units of Hrvatske šume (Croatian Forests) will participate in the forestry worker competition, travelling from Zagreb to Našice. The aim is to introduce the public to their activities, particularly the production of timber assortments. The competition includes four disciplines: three are for professional loggers (chain turning, branch trimming, and felling a pole on a balloon), while the fourth, log cutting with an American saw, is open to visitors.
The festival promotes the forest economy, tourism, association work, family farms (OPG), and local cultural heritage. The history of forest management in Našice dates back over 300 years, to the time of the Peačević family, whose history is preserved in the Perivoj Peačević, located below two Našice castles. The manifestation began in 1970, had a break in the 1980s, and resumed in 2001. Special attention is being paid to the implementation of protective measures against African swine fever.
