The opening of Mateja Rusak's exhibition, titled 'My River', will take place this Friday at 19:00 at the Crikvenica Gallery. The exhibition will be opened by senior curator Sonja Švec Španjol, who will present the artist's oeuvre and highlight the specificities of this exhibition cycle.

Švec Španjul notes that Mateja Rusak consciously selects monotypes with dominant blue, turquoise, green, and grey tones. She shapes visual perspectives in which the horizon line occasionally divides the vast blue of the sky from the turquoise surface of the sea, thereby evoking a sense of peace, tranquility, and relaxation.

According to Švec Španjul, the colour blue signifies a journey into infinity, where the real transforms into the imaginary. For this reason, the curator considers blue to be the ideal colour for forming compositions steeped in meaning, experience, and emotion.

The exhibition 'My River' was first presented in Varaždin, the hometown of Mateja Rusak, in late 2023. Following Varaždin, the exhibition has travelled across Croatia, having been presented in Sesvete, Zagreb, Prelog, Rab, Samobor, Rijeka, Omišalj, Karlovac, and Zaprešić.

The Crikvenica Gallery is the final stop on the exhibition's journey. Following this, the artist will focus on work on new artistic cycles.

The 2026 cycle is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. The exhibition at the Crikvenica Gallery can be viewed until 31 October.
